Invest in a good umbrella!

That sounds like the most obvious statement in the world when it comes to rain right?! But planning ahead and having your PLAN B in place means you won’t be disappointed on the day if the heavens do open! A clear dome umbrella will be a Godsend if you have a damp day. Not only are they simple and classy but your amazing bridal hair and make up won’t be obscured by a brolly trying to steal the show. Nor will it cast shadows on your beautiful face, meaning your photos will come out even better! If you want to carry on with an outdoor wedding, maybe also invest in umbrellas for your guests or a clear tent or marquee! The light can still get in but it will definitely be a drier option!

Give it some wellie!

Hands up? Who has a pair of wellies? Sure, we’re convinced you probably ALL do but did you ever dream of teaming said wellies with your wedding dress? Thought not. Luckily, we’re here to tell you and show you just how much we LOVE wellies and wedding dresses and what cute pictures they make! Trust us, when your special day comes round and there’s rain in the forecast, we can guarantee you will be jumping for joy from puddle to puddle with your new husband or wife- just pack the wellies so your dress doesn’t get too mud splattered for the evening reception!!!

Dramatic, cinematic photos to cherish!

A creative flash on a dark and wet day can create some amazingly dramatic photos with really cinema style. The lighting is softer when it rains and one of our experienced photographers will be able to make you pop in the photos, meaning you’ll look like the leading lady in your very own Hollywood movie! If you wait until night fall, our clever photographers can use off-camera flash to capture some truly amazing images. What’s not to love about that!

Have an indoor back-up plan

Discuss with your wedding photographer ahead of your big day to find a few back up locations - indoor or under cover for some great indoor and outdoor photo opportunities! Everyone dreams of outside shots and you can definitely achieve them on a wet day (*remember, it very rarely rains ALL day, there will always be breaks!)

While you’re scouting out locations, make sure to pick and locate some stunning indoor shots too.

Cajsa and Douglas (below) got married on a wet day at Dalhousie castle. Not being able to get outside may have been a blessing in disguise with their gorgeous indoor breathtaking shots! Utilise your venue and work magic with the indoor photo locations.

Natural intimacy

We spoke to many of our Pink Daisy photographers when writing this blog post and one thing that came up again and again was the natural intimacy that occurs between a couple when sharing an umbrella on a rainy day (cute or what)! Remember the photos of Prince Harry and Meghan in the torrential rain in London last year? THAT is what we’re talking about! This is the kind of unplanned and unposed intimacy that makes a photograph utterly stunning and so full of natural emotion and love. Ooh, we have goose pimples just thinking about it!

Don’t be afraid of a few raindrops!

Even if it does start to sprinkle down, it doesn’t mean you can’s still get some great outdoor shots. If you can be a bit flexible with the timing of your photos you can pop out while there is a break in the clouds, and as long as it is not pouring down, a good photographer can still make the photos look as if it is a nice day.
